Language Requirements for Admission to the Assessment Year
For admission to the assessment year, all incoming students with a foreign language diploma must show proof of their German knowledge at the B2 levels of the Gemeinsamen Europäischen Referenzrahmens (GER), so long as their native language is not German.
If you do not have any knowledge of German, you must first obtain the level A2 (GER) and prove it in the assessment year. During the undergraduate studies the level B2 (GER) has to be proven.
Language Proof at the Assessment Year
Under the heading "Cultural Awareness", all students of the assessment year must bring proof of proficiency in a foreign language as part of the contextual studies. The students have a choice amongst 9 different languages, which will help to expand their educational horizon and to improve their interaction with foreign cultures.
They make their decision at the beginning of the assessment year, and after the second semester, pass their examination in the foreign language they have chosen to bid on. Bidding for a language course is mandatory and binding: students can only take the compulsory language examination if they have established a language course at the beginning of their sudies. A second language certificate in another language must be provided in the subsequent program.
Intensive Courses and Workshops for New Incoming Students
For non-native speaking students, the Language Center offers the Intensive Course "Studiensprache Deutsch" as well as "English of Academic Studies".
